Brother Rice sweeps St. Mary's for seventh-straight CHSL win

BIRMINGHAM -- Birmingham Brother Rice pushed its Catholic League baseball winning streak to seven games with a doubleheader sweep of Orchard Lake St. Mary's, 14-5 and 11-3, on Sunday.

Andrew Sohn, who was 4-for-5 with two doubles and a triple in the nightcap, finished with a team-high seven hits on the day. Jimmy Pickens was 4-for-4 with a home run, a double, three RBI and four runs, while Matt Ruppenthal was 4-for-5 with a double and an RBI, helping Bobby Cross (five innings, six strikeouts) to the win.

In the nightcap, Dalton Greyerbeihl got the win, striking out six in six innings. Travis Ferguson had a home run and Will Schwartz was 3-for-3 with four RBI for the Warriors (11-1 CHSL).
