Prep Bowl XXXII, Saturday, October 23
Notre Dame vs. St. Mary's Prep, 1 p.m.
Despite its 3-5 overall record, Harper Woods Notre Dame has
qualified for Prep Bowl XXXII to be played on Saturday, October 23 at
Detroit's Ford Field. The Irish needed a 24-16 win Saturday night over host
Dearborn Divine Child to reach their first Prep Bowl game in 28 years. ND
won the AB championship in 1976, defeating Southgate Aquinas, 22-12, at
Eastern Michigan University. St. Mary's Prep has an 8-3 overall record in Prep
Bowl history, including a 2-1 mark in wildcard games.
Notre Dame is making its second Prep Bowl appearance. The
Irish has a 2-3 mark in Soup Bowl championship games between, 1957-66.
Saturday's Wildcard game will be the seventh
regular-season meeting between the Irish and the Eaglets. St.
Mary's Prep has dominated the Irish, winning all six previous games by a
combined score of 173-21, including a 21-0 victory in last season's
Week 1 opener.
