Dionte Allen says he'll play for Florida State

BY KEITH DUNLAP OF THE OAKLAND PRESS

One of the top football players in not only Oakland County, but the entire country, has made his much anticipated college choice.

Orchard Lake St. Mary's defensive back/wide receiver Dionte Allen made a verbal commitment to play at Florida State, choosing the Seminoles over Michigan, Ohio State and Notre Dame.

Allen is ranked as the No. 33 player in the nation by rivals.com.

"That's always been my dream school," Allen said.  "I always liked Deion Sanders and Peter Warwick.  I grew up watching those guys."

Allen informed FSU head coach Bobby Bowden of his decision with a phone call on Tuesday night.  He visited Florida State's campus in July and immediately came away with a love for the place.

"Once I realized how comfortable I was there, I sat on it for a couple of weeks, I prayed about it, and decided it was the place for me," Allen said.
