St. Mary's Allen near decision

Orchard Lake St. Mary's senior Dionte Allen, one of the most highly-sought football recruits in the U.S., is close to announcing which school he'll attend next year. An official announcement could come this week.

Allen says he'll choose between Michigan, Florida State, Notre Dame and Ohio State. He's taken unofficial visits to each school. He doesn't plan to take any official visits, staying he already has sufficient information to make his decision.

A cornerback, wide receiver and kick returner at St. Mary's, Allen is considered one of the nation's top cornerback recruits. He's lost count of how many scholarship offers he's received. Allen has excellent speed and pass-coverage skills, and is an aggressive hitter. He hopes to contribute as a true freshman at his chosen school in 2007.
