Eaglets #10 in preseason county rankings

The preseason's top 10 teams in Oakland County, an order which will likely change from week to week:

1. Birmingham Brother Rice
2. Lake Orion
3.South Lyon
4. Clarkston
5. Farmington Hills Harrison
6. Rochester Adams
7. Milford
8. Walled Lake Central
9. Novi Detroit Catholic Central

10. Orchard Lake St. Mary's
Sure, the Eaglets lost a ton of speed and skill from last year. Justin Siller, Dionte Allen and Taurian Washington are now at big-time college programs, and it's hard to replace such talents. However, this is St. Mary's, a program rich in tradition that normally replenishes  its stockpiles in such situations. The strength of the team will be the defensive line, which will be anchored by seniors Matt Sargent, Carl Goeckel and Jason Semmes. There might not be as much skill at quarterback or wide receiver as last year, but senior Dominique White should be able to churn out yards on the ground running behind Sargent. The passing game will get a boost with the arrival of junior WR/TE Dion Sims, a transfer from Detroit U-D Jesuit, who is one of the state's best basketball players in his class.

Orchard Lake St. Mary's, last year's preseason #1, finished 8-3, but was upset in the district final by Walled Lake Central.
