Catholic League Central Division Preview

By CRYSTAL KRAUSKOFF of The Oakland Press

1. Warren De La Salle
2. Birmingham Brother Rice

3. Orchard Lake St. Mary's
Last year: 8-3 overall, 3-2, third in Central Division, lost in D2 district finals.
Why they'll make some noise: Senior running back Dominique White (5-8, 180) returns as a starter with another year of experience under his belt. Senior OG/DE Matt Sargent (6-3, 230) is sure to lead a solid staff of experienced defenders. OLSM returns four senior starting defensive players including DT Carl Goeckel (6-1, 235), DE Jason Semmes (6-3, 215) and LB Don Coleman (6-0, 195).
Why they won't: The Eaglets need to break in a new quarterback. Their punting also needs some work.
The skinny: OLSM has five returning starters on the offensive end, including White and junior WR Tayler Peruski (5-11, 180). Expect them to carry the load, especially in the earlier part of the season. The Eaglets will surely be eager to put last season's district finals loss behind them.

4. Novi Detroit Catholic Central
5. Detroit U-D Jesuit
6. Dearborn Divine Child
