St. Mary's first big foe for DeLaSalle

WARREN -- Warren DeLaSalle's preliminary test is over.

The Catholic League Central Division season begins this weekend, and for DeLaSalle, the next three weeks will tell the tale.

It all begins with Orchard Lake St. Mary's on Friday.

The game is at 7 p.m. at Warren Fitzgerald.

"This is a typical St. Mary's team," said coach Paul Verska, whose DeLaSalle team has scored 128 points en route to a 3-0 start.

After St. Mary's, DeLaSalle plays Detroit Catholic Central and Birmingham Brother Rice.

"I know how good they are," St. Mary's coach George Porritt said of DeLaSalle.

"They've got speed."
