Robert Bolden, a 6-foot-4, 195-pound quarterback from Orchard Lake St. Mary's, committed to Penn State on Friday. Bolden, considered one of the top three quarterbacks in the state, had narrowed his choices to five schools before making his decision. The others were Louisville, Northwestern, Oregon and Vanderbilt.
"Penn State was the best fit for me, academically and athletically," Bolden said. "I got along well with the coaching staff, including coach (Joe) Paterno."
Last season Bolden completed 72-of-113 pass attempts for 951 yards and seven touchdowns. He has been a starter since his sophomore year.
Bolden is considered a four-star prospect and the No. 8 quarterback in the nation, according to Scout.com. The recruiting Web site says he "has great mechanics and is very fundamentally sound."
