Series History: The Eaglets and the Warriors have played each other in the Prep Bowl, in league games, and in the state playoffs. Each game has had an impact on the each team's season. In 1999, the Eaglets won the Division IV State Championship, with its only regular season loss to the Warriors. The game went into the books for most total points (107), and most points scored by an opponent (63). In 2000, although both teams won their division state championships, the Eaglets beat the Warriors in league play. In 2001, the Eaglets beat the Warriors twice, once in league and again in the Prep Bowl to win the Catholic League Championship. In 2003, the Eaglets shut out the Warriors at home, but the Warriors had the more successful state playoff run, finishing as state runner-up. In 2004, the Warriors trounced the Eaglets, 28-7, to win the Central Division, but the Eaglets beat the Warriors in the state playoffs, 18-16. St. Mary's finished as Division 2 state runner-up. In 2005, the Eaglets defeated the Warriors in league play and again in the Prep Bowl to win the Catholic League Championship, but the Warriors had the final hurrah, defeating St. Mary's in the state playoffs, 17-8, on the way to winning another state championship. In 2006, in their only meeting, the Warriors beat the Eaglets, 14-7. St. Mary's hosted Brother Rice for Homecoming 2007, and thrashed the Warriors, 40-21. Brother Rice then turned the tables in the CHSL A-B Championship, winning 45-14. The Eaglets won the 2008 regular season battle, 31-28, and then lost in the Prep Bowl Wildcard game, 28-21.
2008 Recap: The Warriors finished the season 7-4, 2-2 in the Catholic League, and lost to White Lake Lakeland in the Division 2 district final.
2009 Preview: Talent on both offense and defense. In other words, the Warriors should be their usual balanced selves and one of the state's best. On offense, senior QB Frankie Popp threw for 1,600 yards and 15 touchdowns last year, numbers which could improve, since he has one of the state's best wideouts to throw to in senior Kevonte Martin-Manley. Defensively, Brother Rice might have one of the best secondaries in the state with the return of junior SS Loran Jaddou, junior FS Jimmy Pickens and senior CB Michael Brown. Also back for Brother Rice is senior linebacker Justin Cherocci, who led the state in tackles last year. Line play, particularly on defense, could be a concern for the Warriors. (Keith Dunlap, The Oakland Press, 8/23/2009).
2009 Season to date (8-5, 2-2 CHSL) : The Warriors opened the season at home beating Detroit Jesuit, 49-0; beat Toledo St. John's Jesuit, 42-21; beat Highland Park, 13-6; lost to Catholic Central, 24-7; beat De La Salle, 24-21; beat Divine Child, 35-22; lost to OLSM, 34-27 (3OT); lost to Indianapolis (IN) Cathedral, 35-7; lost to Detroit Southeastern, 19-13; beat Walled Lake Central, 35-7; beat Rochester Adams, 24-7; beat Midland, 49-27; lost to Lowell, 35-14.
