Grosse Ile Rallies to Tie St. Mary's

ORCHARD LAKE--Down by one goal late in the third period, the Grosse Ile Red Devils pulled their goalie to add an extra skater and the gamble paid off as they scored the tying goal with less than 20 seconds to go in the game to pull even with the Eaglets, 3-3 on Saturday night at the St. Mary's Ice Arena. The Red Devils jumped to an early two goal lead in the first period, one on a power play, while outshooting the Eaglets 9 to 6. St. Mary's got one back in the second period with a goal by Casey Rose with 13:10 left off an assist from Steve Kay. The Eaglets outplayed and outshot the Red Devils in that period 18 to 6. In the third period, Casey Rose scored his second goal of the game with 8:54 left with an assist from Jon Connors to tie the game. Defenseman Jeff Petry scored 56 seconds later on a power play off an assist from Alex Prough. There was no overtime period. St. Mary's outshot the Red Devils 31 to 26. St. Mary's was 1 for 8 in power plays and Grosse Ile was 1 for 10. The Eaglets' record is 1-2-1.
