Eaglets Advance to State Quarterfinals
ORCHARD LAKE --In the Region 22 championship game on Saturday night, the Eaglets overwhelmed the Harper Woods Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 11-0. Senior Zack Doyen led the scoring with four goals and one assist, senior captain Patrick Nagorsen had two goals and one assist, junior Shane Dwyer had two goals and two assists, and junior captain Alex Prough had one goal and three assists. Also scoring for St. Mary's were senior captain Eric Roman with one goal and two assists, senior Maciej Sulka with one goal and one assist. Junior Krystian Dziubinski had two assists, and juniors John Castine and Jamie Johnston each had an assist. The game was called after the second period due to the mercy rule. Senior goaltender Shane Trexler had six saves spanning the two periods for the Eaglets (17-6-3). St. Mary's plays Ortonville Brandon (25-1-1) on Wednesday, March 9, at 8 p.m. at the Troy Sports Center in the Division 3 State Quarterfinals.
