Eaglets Chill Out Devils
ORCHARD LAKE --The Eaglets continued their winning ways on Saturday night by shutting out the Grosse Ile Red Devils, 4-0.
The Eaglets dominated the first period outshooting the Devils 11-5 and scoring 2 goals, one short-handed. Shane Dwyer scored a full-strength goal at 6:55 with assists from Jon Castine and Jon Connors. While on a penalty kill, junior defenseman Charlie Semaan scored short-handed off an assist from Alex Prough.
The second period had plenty of action but no goals. The Devils outshot the Eaglets 12-9, but were shut down by several outstanding saves by Eaglet goalie Joe Savona.
The Eaglets returned to form in the third period, outshooting the Devils 10-6. Shane Dwyer scored his second goal of the night with assists again from Jon Connors and Jon Castine. The final goal was scored by Billy Balent on a power play at the 1:12 mark with assists from Clinton Bourbonais and Alex Prough.
Junior goalie Joe Savona earned his second shutout of the season, stopping all 23 Devil shots.
St. Mary's (4-1) travels to Compuware Arena in Plymouth (M-14 and Beck Road) on Saturday, December 17th, for a rematch with the Detroit Catholic Central Shamrocks (6-1).
