Eaglets Overpower Divine Child

ORCHARD LAKE --Four days after losing a shootout with Catholic Central, the St. Mary's Hockey Eaglets took out their frustration on the Dearborn Divine Child Falcons, 8-2, to gain their first win of the young season.

After a sluggish first period in which the Eaglets were outshot by the Falcons but still led 1-0, St. Mary's found their scoring touch to the dismay of Divine Child.  The Eaglets scored 3 goals in a 30-second span early in the 2nd period to go up 4-0.  Senior captain Alex Prough and linemate Clinton Bourbonais led the way with help from linemate Brandon Kozlowski and defensemen James Watts and Dan Stanisz.  Senior captain Jon Connors ended the barrage with an unassisted goal at the 10:28 mark.  Senior Kristain Dziubinski's goal at 6:41 finished the Eaglet scoring spree in the period.  Divine Child got a power play goal at 4:38 from Brandon Rochetto to break up Eaglet goalie Joseph Savona's shutout bid.

The 3rd period saw the Eaglets score three more full-strength goals by James Watts, Brandon Kozlowski and Jon Falvo, with assists from seniors Alex Prough, Shane Dwyer, Jon Connors, and sophomore Clinton Bourbonais.  The Falcons scored a final power play goal with 19 seconds left in regulation.  Eaglet goalie Joseph Savona had 20 saves, and the Eaglets killed 4 of 6 power plays.

The Eaglets travel to Alpena on Friday, December 2nd, to participate in the Alpena Showcase, and will face Flint Powers Catholic and Negaunee.
