St. Mary's Comes From Behind to Beat Grosse Pointe North
MT. CLEMENS --The Eaglets traveled to the east side on Wednesday to take on perennial hockey power Grosse Pointe North and had to score twice in the final period to overcome the Norsemen, 4-3. Grosse Pointe scored early in the first period and early in the second to take a 2-0 lead. The Eaglets tied the score in the second on goals by Maciej Sulka and Alex Prough. The Norsemen scored on a power play to end the period up 3-2. The third period was all St. Mary's as Shane Dwyer tied the game at the 9:25 mark and senior Zack Doyen scored the game winner with 6:09 left. Senior goaltender Shane Trexler made 32 saves in goal for the Eaglets (14-6-3). St. Mary's begins regional playoff action on Monday, February 28, against Madison Heights Lamphere.
