St. Mary's Defeats Brighton
ORCHARD LAKE --Coming off a huge win over Cranbrook, the St. Mary's Hockey Eaglets rallied from a 3-2 deficit to defeat the Brighton Bulldogs at home on Saturday night. The Eaglets started fast by scoring twice in the first period, the first at 13:00 by Krystian Dziubinski off assists from Jeff Mydlowski and Zack Doyen, and the second at 9:30 by Zack Doyen off assists by Jon Connors and Krystian Dziubinski. In the second period, the Bulldogs scored two power play goals and a short-handed goal to take the lead going into the third period. The Eaglets tied the game with a 5-on-3 power play goal midway through the third period by Shane Dwyer assisted by Todd Davis and Jeff Petry. Zack Doyen scored the game-winning goal with 6:30 left assisted by Patrick Nagorsen and Alex Prough. Sophomore goaltender Drew Duff had 20 saves. St. Mary's outshot Brighton 38-23. St. Mary's record is 5-5-2 and is rated #6 in Division 3. Brighton is rated #4 in Division 1.
