Bryniczka, Semaan lead Eaglets over Norsemen
ORCHARD LAKE --Kasper Bryniczka scored three goals, two in the first period, and Charlie Semaan had a goal and three assists as the Orchard Lake St. Mary's Ice Eaglets routed the Grosse Pointe North Norsemen, 8-4, at home on Saturday night.
The Eaglets came out of the locker room flying in the first period scoring 6 goals on 11 shots, three even-strength, two short-handed, and one on a power-play. The Norseman (0-1-0) managed three goals on ten shots, the final goal on a power play with 4 seconds left in the period. The Eaglets let the Norsemen back in the game by sending 4 different players to the penalty box.
Kasper Bryniczka and Brandon Kozlowski scored goals early in the period, followed by short-handed goals by Clinton Bourbonais and Billy Balent before the period halfway mark. Norsemen starting goalie Eric Rohrkemper was pulled at the 9:01 mark and replaced by backup Michael Rahaim. Rohrkemper returned later and finished the game in goal.
The second period saw the Eaglets bombard the Norsemen with 24 shots for 2 goals, both on power plays, the first at 14:13 by Kasper Bryniczka unassisted, his third of the night, and at 3:27 by Charlie Semaan. The Norsemen only managed one shot on goal for the period, at 9:23 on a power play that found its way past Eaglet goalie Joe Savona. Coach Brian Klanow replaced Savona at that point with backup goalie Devon Carr, who finished the period without facing a single shot. The Norsemen sent four different players to the penalty box and the Eaglets sent three as both teams spent the period killing penalties.
The third period was anticlimatic compared to the first two as both teams matched shots on goal without scoring. Eaglet Devon Carr stopped all nine shots he faced to preserve the victory.
The Eaglets (2-1-0) travel this weekend to Culver, Indiana to face the Culver Military Academy Eagles, and then face Catholic Central again on Friday, December 8, at Compuware Arena in Plymouth, Michigan..
