St. Mary's overcomes Grosse Pointe South

EAST KENTWOOD--In the opening game of the East Kentwood Tournament on Friday, Orchard Lake St. Mary's rebounded from an early deficit to defeat Grosse Pointe South 4-1 for the right to play for the tournament title.

Grosse Pointe South scored in the first period when Brian Auty scored 7:55 into the game, with assists from Ryan Abraham and Tim Shield.

St. Mary's tied the game in the second period on a power play goal by Brandon Kozlowski off assists from Tony Aukskalnis and Mac Watts.  Tim Hooker scored what turned out to be the game deciding goal halfway through the period, with an assist from Steve Tallman.  Late in the period, Charlie Semaan scored on a power play with assists from Mac Watts and Jon Falvo.

Charlie Semaan scored his second goal of the game late in the third period with an assist from goalie Joe Savona and Jon Falvo.

For the game, St. Mary's (8-5-3) and Grosse Pointe South (14-3) each had 19 shots on goal.
