St. Mary's sweeps weekend series

ORCHARD LAKE--After shutting out Hamilton Sherwood on Saturday afternoon to get their first win of the season, the Orchard Lake St. Mary's Ice Eaglets took the second game of the weekend series by a score of 6-2.
Tim Hooker and Zak Thompson scored first period goals for the Eaglets.
Andrew Radjenovic scored a power play goal for the Saints in the second period to make it a one-goal game, but Sean Nagorsen and Shane Halaas scored goals to extend the lead to 4-1 going into the final period.
Matt Uhrin's power play goal in the first minute of the third period effectively closed the door on the Saints, even though Andrew Radjenovic scored his second goal of the game with 2:37 left. Aaron Schneider scored the final Eaglet goal with 1:51 left.
Senior captain Billy Balent got his first two points of the season, assisting on the Eaglet third period goals.
Devon Carr had 11 saves in goal for St. Mary's. Josh Valenti had 39 saves for the Saints.
St. Mary's visits Detroit Catholic Central on Saturday seeking to avenge the first game loss.
