Sullivan stars in St. Mary's overtime win over CC

From Hockey Weekly

PLYMOUTH--Tim Hooker was the hero but Chris Sullivan gave him the opportunity.

Hooker's overtime goal gave Orchard Lake St. Mary's a 2-1 win over Novi Catholic Central at Compuware Arena on Dec. 8.

But the contest only got that far because of the spectacular goaltending of Chris Sullivan, who made 43 saves for the Eaglets (3-2).

“It's a good win for us,” St. Mary's coach Brian Klanow told the Oakland Press. “This team is a work in progress. We are very young and we need to take advantage of the other team's mistakes. We made some plays tonight.”

Catholic Central (4-2, 2-1 in the MIHL) tied the game with 8:08 left in regulation, when it finally managed to get one past Sullivan, on Lou Lemak's goal.

“We got a great game out of our goaltender, “ Klanow said. “Shots are shots, but if you look at good scoring opportunities, we were about even. We had our chances to open the game and we have to work on getting better.”

Billy Balent gave OLSM a 1-0 lead in the first period.

“The first time we played, the game was a lot different,” Klanow said. “They were able to score five goals and we failed to stop them. Central is a very well coached team with a lot of talent and we know every time we play them, we expect this type of battle.”
