FRASER -- Defending Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 1 Boys Hockey Champion and No. 4-ranked Orchard Lake St. Mary's fought to a scoreless overtime tie with Division 2 No. 5-ranked Warren De La Salle Jan. 5 at the Great Lakes Sports City.
"It was a great Catholic League hockey game," said De La Salle Head Coach Dan Barry. "Not too many penalties. Good up and down hockey. Both goaltenders stood on their heads and made beautiful saves. It was just a great game … just what you wanted to see."
De La Salle is 6-4-1. St. Mary's is 7-4-1.
John Klienhaus made 33 saves for the shutout in goal for De La Salle. Ryan Morley-Stockton earned the shutout in goal in his first game for St. Mary's.
St. Mary's heads to Indiana this Friday (Jan. 11) to play at the Culver Military Academy .
De La Salle continued their state champions tour Wednesday (Jan. 9) at MHSAA Division 2 champion Grosse Pointe South then battle Division 3 champion Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood on Saturday (Jan. 12).
