TROY — Orchard Lake St. Mary's won its fourth-straight Division 1 regional final Saturday evening by getting out to an early lead, and holding on thanks to some solid goaltending from Max Oslund — who finished with 14 saves.
The Eaglets scored the first three goals of the game en route to a 3-2 victory over a feisty Birmingham United squad. Shane Halaas scored one goal — it proved to be the game-winner — and added an assist for St. Mary's (21-5-1), while teammate Matt Uhrin contributed with two assists.
With the win, the Eaglets will take on the winner between Grosse Pointe North and Utica in a state quarterfinal matchup.
Birmingham United's (6-18-3) Mike McCarthy had one goal and an assist.
