ORCHARD LAKE -- Orchard Lake St. Mary's overwhelmed visiting Clarkston, 7-1, in boys hockey action on Saturday night.
The Eaglets outshot the Wolves 13-4 in the first period. Eaglet Cody Loyer scored at 6:43 off assists from Ian Brambs and Dan Milan. At 6:06 the Eaglets went up by two as Scott Walter scored off assists from Luke Guminik and Kevin Killian. Eaglet Tanner Pond scored unassisted at 5:31 to make the score 3-0.
In the second period the Wolves scored a power play goal at 5:03 when Adam Frank scored with an assist from Sean Hancook. With 46 seconds left in the period, Eaglet Alex Zerbo scored with an assist from Dan Milan. The Eaglets outshot the Wolves 8-7.
The third period was all St. Mary's as the Eaglets scored three goals on 14 shots. Zak Thompson scored a power play goal at 16:05 off assists from Ryan Foe and Jonathan Kello. At 8:31, Scott Walter scored his second goal off an assist from Luke Guminik, and at 7:00, Zak Thompson scored his second goal off assists from Matt Sweet and Ryan Foe. The Wolves only managed four shot on goal for the period.
Eaglet senior goalie Jack Kare stopped 14 of 15 Wolves shots. Clarkston junior goalie Alec Gildner had 28 saves.
St. Mary's travels to Warren De La Salle on Wednesday, December 18.
