St. Mary's beats Brighton on Senior Night

ORCHARD LAKE -- Orchard Lake St. Mary's Hockey Eaglets beat Brighton, 3-2, on Senior Night on Saturday night.

Tanner Pond of St. Mary's opened the scoring at 3:51 of the first period off assists from Alex Zerbo and Christian Black. The Bulldogs countered with a power play goal by Scott Schueneman with assists by James Schueneman and Mark Keranen.

Scott Walter of St. Mary's scored the only goal of the second period off assists from Alex Zerbo and Cody King.

James Schueneman of Brighton tied the game with a short-handed goal on a breakaway at 12:51 of the third period. The game looked like it might go into overtime until Luke Guminik of the Eaglets scored the game-winner with 1:02 left off assists from Kevin Killian and Curran Reuschlein.

The Eaglets (13-5-1) travel to Oxford, Ohio on Saturday, February 6, 2010, for a game against Detroit Jesuit at Miami University.
