St. Mary's goes to first state final since 2008

PLYMOUTH -- Orchard Lake St. Mary's beat East Kentwood, 3-2, in MHSAA Division 1 boys hockey semifinal action on Friday night.

Freshman Cody Milan scored two of Orchard Lake St. Mary's three power play goals in a hard-hitting semifinal, which featured 42 penalty minutes.

The Eaglets (19-10) earned their first title game appearance since winning consecutive championships in 2007 and 2008.

Milan made the play of the semifinal game during the final minute of the second period, skating from behind the net to score a wraparound goal. He also scored a power play goal to open the scoring with 35 seconds left in the first period.
