St. Mary's Wins Catholic League Division 2 Championship
ORCHARD
LAKE--With last year's Catholic League championship game fresh on their minds,
members of the St. Mary's Prep lacrosse team were on a mission Saturday against
Notre Dame Prep. The Eaglets remembered getting upset by Bishop Foley in
the Division 2 title game in 2003 -- and they weren't going to let it happen
again. St. Mary's knocked off Foley in the semifinals, 12-5. Then,
on Saturday, the Eaglets defeated Notre Dame Prep, 13-5, to reclaim the league
title. For the Eaglets, it was their fourth league lacrosse title and
second in three years. St. Mary's, which was 4-0 in Catholic League play,
improved to 10-4 overall. The Eaglets, coached by Hank Lewandowski, are
ranked fourth in the state in Division 2.
