Poor first half dooms St. Mary's
ORCHARD LAKE--A poor first half which saw Orchard Lake St. Mary's allow twice as many goals as they scored spelled disaster in a loss to Detroit Jesuit, 15-11, on Tuesday.
Although the Eaglets opening the scoring, the Cubs led at the end of the first period, 4-2. The second period was a repeat of the first, with Detroit Jesuit outscoring St. Mary's, 6-3, to take a 10-5 halftime lead.
The Eaglets came out after the intermission and played the Cubs even for the remainder of the contest, but could not get any closer than four goals to suffer their third loss of the season and second in a row.
The Eaglets are unbeaten outside of the Catholic League A Division, but are 1-3 to A Division opponents. A victory over Warren De La Salle puts St. Mary's into the CHSL semifinals, with Birmingham Brother Rice the likely opponent.
