Season ends as time runs out for St. Mary's against De La Salle

ANN ARBOR--Orchard Lake St. Mary's bid to return to the MHSAA Division 2 state lacrosse final ended on Friday with a loss to Warren De La Salle, 8-6, in the regional final.

The Eaglets led 1-0 early, but the Pilots took the lead with three successive goals in the first half, and never gave up the lead.

Down 8-3 early in the final period, St. Mary's rallied behind Drake Chwalibog, Drew Schupbach and Alex Houck to narrow the lead to 8-6, but De La Salle maintained its composure to run out the clock.

Pilot goalkeeper Matthew Neal, headed to Adrian College, had an outstanding game in goal, stopping numerous Eaglet shots for the victory.

Taylor Docking and Drake Chwalibog each had two goals for St. Mary's.

Orchard Lake St. Mary's finishes the season at 12-9.
