St. Mary's nets first win of season

ORCHARD LAKE --Orchard Lake St. Mary's defeated Pontiac Notre Dame Prep, 3-1, in boys soccer action on Thursday for their first win of the season.

Joshua Gappy scored early for St. Mary's (1-6), but the Irish then scored to tie the game, and the first half ended 1-1.

The second half was played in a brisk wind under darkening skies, and Kyle Richards of St. Mary's scored to break the tie, and then scored an insurance goal with just over six minutes remaining.

Alex Brown made several key saves in goal for the Eaglets.

St. Mary's celebrates homecoming on Saturday at 1 pm against Cesar Chavez Academy.
