Chris Czarnecki - Assistant Rowing Coach

A native of Rochester, Michigan, Coach Czarnecki began his rowing career at Grand Valley State University. He rowed in the Varsity 8 final at the Dad Vail Regatta and competed at the Royal Henley Regatta in England in 1996 and 1998 during his time at GVSU. He has rowed and coached for the Wyandotte Boat Club since his college days. In 1998 he won the 4- at the Canadian Henley Regatta.

Coach Czarnecki started his coaching career at Grand Valley in 2000. While there he worked with the varsity and novice programs and made the trip to Henley again in 2002 with Grand Vally. From Grand Valley he joined the staff at St. Mary's in 2004. Since his arrival he has coached novice and varsity crews that have won multiple State, Regional and National Championships.

Coach Czarnecki points to the influence of previous coaches that have lead him down the path of coaching, " I am fortunate to have had some excellent coaches, Gary Chapp and Ted Borowicz,  who enabled me to redefine hard work, and I hope to enable this in the athletes that I work with."

He began coaching and teaching at St. Mary's in 2004. He teaches English to Sophomores and Juniors at St. Mary's.
