BY DAN STICKRADT OF THE OBSERVER AND ECCENTRIC
GRAND RAPIDS--Both Orchard Lake St. Mary's and Farmington Harrison did some damage at the D-2 finals at Grand Rapids Forest Hills Northern.
St. Mary's finished third with 34 points and Harrison claimed sixth with 25 to lead area schools. Bloomfield Hills Lahser tied for 38th with five points and Auburn Hills Avondale scored two points and tied for 53rd.
St. Mary's Anthony Bowman was second in the 200 (22.49) and third in the 100 (10.95). He also teamed up for a pair of relay wins.
The foursome of Bowman, Dionte Allen, Taurian Washington and Aaron Gant won the 800 relay in 1:28.38, a new D-2 state-meet record, then came back to win the 400 relay (42.8).
Harrison's Cameron Murphy had a banner day, as he won the 300 hurdles (38.98) after taking third in the 110 hurdles (14.38). Lawrence Terrell was sixth in the long jump (21-8.5) and also ran a leg on the Hawks' sixth-place 400 relay (43.77).
Lahser's Mike Quick ended his fine prep career by finishing fifth in the 3,200 (9:20.4) and eighth in the 1,600 (4:21.89). Avondale's Garrett Taffe was seventh in the 110 hurdles (15.17).
Host Forest Hills Northern and Ypsilanti tied for team honors with 40 points apiece.
